Horse Training
I am a Certified Level II USEA Instructor. I specialize in jumping, eventing and dressage. In addition to training riders and horses, I also train myself to continually hone my skills. Recently I was fortunate to be assistant trainer with Connie Arthur at Lone Tree Farm in Waterford, CA .
Some other trainers that I work with now or that have influenced me in the past are John Michael Durr, Jack LeGoff, Bob McDonald, Debbie McDonald and many more. I have an outdoor arena at my home where I conduct grid nights in the summer and I also haul myself and clients to a close cross country facility, Rafter K. I can use several indoor arenas in winter months though I expect to go to Cal. in Feb./ March 2012. I currently compete Banner, my 12 yr old WB gelding, at Preliminary level. At Rebecca Farm in 2010, US Eventing Team member Boyd Martin rode Banner and won a division of preliminary. I would like to express my gratitude to Boyd for his ride and example. Go to our Videos page to see us in action! I use dressage as a foundation for training and systematically strengthen the equine's mind and body to perform. I adhere to the principle that if the horse makes a mistake it's because I asked the wrong question or I asked the question wrong. I go back to basics when the horse appears to not understand. |
